Preview, schedule and roll back Shopify discounts

Tab Promo lets you preview a draft discount against a real order from your store, check it for setup errors, and only then publish it. Every publish is saved as a version, so if a live offer is wrong you can roll back to an earlier version from Publish history. Campaigns can also be scheduled with start and end dates.

Plan: Free — up to 20 promotion orders a month; Starter — $49/month for unlimited orders

Check the math on a real order

Draft: 15% off orders over $100. Preview with test order #1042 ($128)

Preview shows the rule matched and $19.20 off, before any shopper sees it.

See how campaigns stack

Stack Simulator: replay one order against your active campaigns, or active and scheduled ones

You see which campaigns match that order and get warnings about how they combine.

Weekend sale

Active dates: Friday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59

The discount starts and stops on schedule without anyone logging in.

Undo a mistake

Version 3 went live at 30% instead of 20%. Rollback to this version: version 2

The 20% rules are published again as a new version; the history of version 3 is kept.

Setup

How to set it up.

  1. Build the campaign as a draft. Create a campaign from a template or blank and add your rules. Drafts are never live, and drafts, preview and checks stay available on every plan.
  2. Preview against real orders. From the campaign's More actions menu, choose Preview and enter an order ID from the last 60 days. Use Stack Simulator to replay an order across several campaigns, and the Storefront sandbox (from the Storefront page) to check offer messages for a sample cart.
  3. Set Active dates. Optionally set a start and end date and time on the campaign.
  4. Run the publish check. Open Publish. Tab Promo checks that the rules are valid, fit within Shopify Function limits and have the settings they need. The button reads "Resolve errors first" until everything passes.
  5. Publish, then roll back if needed. Click Publish now; it goes live once Shopify confirms it. To undo, open Publish history, pick an earlier version, and choose Rollback to this version.

Good to know

Where it stops.

  • Preview replays orders from the last 60 days. Create a test order first if you have no suitable recent one.
  • Preview and the publish check catch setup errors and show the math; they do not prove your theme or checkout look right. Always finish with a real test checkout.
  • Publishing and rollback are not instant: each change goes live only after Shopify confirms it.
  • On Free, publishing and rollback work for up to 20 promotion orders a month. After a 3-day grace period promotions pause until the next month; drafts, preview and checks stay available.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can I try Tab Promo without affecting my live store?

Yes. Drafts, preview on real orders and the publish check never touch checkout, on any plan. Nothing reaches shoppers until you publish.

Does preview use fake carts or real orders?

Preview and Stack Simulator use real orders from your store (last 60 days). Storefront sandbox uses a sample cart you build, to check the offer messages shoppers will see.

What does rollback actually do?

It republishes the rules of an earlier version as a new version. The campaign's current combination settings, schedule and title stay as they are. Nothing in the history is deleted, so you can see what changed and when.

What if someone edits the discount directly in Shopify?

If Tab Promo needs to restore a discount (for example when you switch a campaign off) and finds it was changed in Shopify, it shows the differences instead of overwriting them. You choose: keep the current Shopify settings or overwrite them with the previous settings.

Can I schedule a campaign to start and end on its own?

Yes. Set Active dates on the campaign. The schedule is saved with the discount in Shopify.
