Getting started with Tab Upsell & Bundles
Choose an Upsell campaign or Bundle, confirm storefront access, and test the first live offer.
Tab Upsell & Bundles provides two workflows: individual recommendations from merchant-approved candidate pools, and Bundles priced for the exact variants each shopper picks. They share an app, but have separate authoring, storefront identities, and reporting.
Choose your first workflow
| Merchant job | Start here |
|---|---|
| Recommend accessories or related products individually | Create an Upsell campaign |
| Sell a defined set of two to four products together | Create a Bundle |
| Find products customers already buy together | Review Discovery |
| Build custom Online Store sections | Upsell SDK or Bundle SDK |
Prepare the store
- Install the app and approve its requested permissions.
- Check the Home setup and diagnostics for catalog synchronization, permissions, webhooks, and theme activation.
- Wait for the products and variants you intend to use to finish syncing.
- Check the shop’s current plan and the access needed for the chosen placement.
Use a compatible Online Store theme. Product-page, cart-page, and compatible cart-drawer placements each have their own theme block or app embed, and every plan includes them. Only a custom section that uses the Online Store API, or selects bundles by explicit offer ID, requires API access (Optimize).
Review Discovery
Discovery reads paid-order co-purchase evidence from the last 90 days. Create upsell and Create bundle prefill an editor. Neither publishes an offer automatically. If there is not enough order history, choose the products manually.
Configure and add the theme surface
For Upsell, choose source products, approve a candidate pool, set the strategy, and publish the campaign. Add the corresponding app block in the theme editor and save the theme. For cart drawers, follow Storefront integration.
For Bundles, define the product set, each product’s allowed variants, and pricing. Follow the bundle guide for the product-page block and exact-selection checks.
Verify before launch
Test the saved theme on a product and market you actually serve:
- The intended campaign or offer appears, with current sellable variants and prices.
- Changing a bundle variant updates its quote before Add bundle is enabled.
- A successful add puts the intended items into the Shopify cart.
- Unavailable products, a missing entitlement, or a failed read do not produce invented offers or prices.
- The resulting workflow’s attribution and refunds are inspected in its own reporting view.
