Candidate discovery

Read which products your customers bought together in the last 90 days of paid orders, and start an Upsell rule or a Bundle from a pair.

Discovery shows which products appear together in your store’s paid orders. It is evidence for a merchandising decision; it does not choose or publish the assortment for you.

What Discovery reads

Discovery reads your Shopify orders from the last 90 days that are paid and are not test orders. For every pair of products, it counts the orders that contain both, once per order however many units were bought.

  • It needs at least 20 such orders. Below that, the page says More order history is needed and shows no pairs.
  • It keeps the 500 strongest pairs.
  • There is no machine learning or prediction involved: the numbers are counts from your own orders.

Read the report

Each row shows:

  • Bought together — the two products.
  • Opportunity score — how often the pair appears relative to the orders analyzed. A pair bought together in many orders scores higher than one that appears a few times, and the score grows faster than the count, so repeat pairs stand out.
  • Orders analyzed — how many paid orders the analysis used.

Inspect each pair’s products before acting. A frequent pair can still be unsuitable because of availability, compatibility, or your merchandising plans. A score describes observed orders; it does not predict extra sales or prove that offering the pair would cause purchases.

Refresh the analysis

Discovery runs once after install. After that it runs only when you click Refresh analysis, so the report reflects the orders up to the last refresh. Refresh after a busy season or a catalog change.

Turn a pair into an offer

Neither action changes your storefront. Each opens an editor with a starting point, and nothing is created until you save.

  • Create upsell opens a new Upsell campaign with one rule: the first product as the trigger and the second as the only candidate. Choose the placements, add more candidates if you like, and set the discount before saving.
  • Create bundle opens a draft Bundle with the two products. Choose the eligible variants and the price, or add up to two more products.
  • Ignore hides a pair you don’t want to act on.

Keep the assortment under control

Upsell recommendations stay inside the candidate pool you approve. Bundle variants stay inside each component’s saved eligibility policy. Discovery cannot widen either of those boundaries, and it never publishes anything by itself.

If your store has fewer than 20 paid orders in the last 90 days, configure the assortment by hand and come back to Discovery when there is more history.
